What Does a Mechanical Engineer Do?

Mechanical engineers design, analyse, manufacture, and maintain mechanical systems — from car engines to power plants, from medical devices to aerospace components. They work at the intersection of physics, mathematics, and materials science. Sub-fields include thermal engineering, manufacturing, automotive, aerospace, robotics, and HVAC.

  • Strong physics and mathematics foundation
