IPS / Police Officer
IPS officers command district and state police forces; state police services offer a parallel route. Entry is by exam after graduation from any stream.
What Does an IPS / Police Officer Do?
Indian Police Service officers lead law enforcement — as Superintendent of Police of a district, in state intelligence and crime branches, and in central agencies such as the CBI, NIA and the paramilitary forces. State Police Service officers (Deputy SP entry) run sub-divisions and rise into the IPS cadre. The work is operational and people-facing: public order, investigation, crisis command and administration of large teams.
