What Does a Company Secretary Do?

Company Secretaries advise the board of directors on corporate governance, ensure compliance with company law (Companies Act, SEBI regulations), handle statutory filings, manage board meetings, and oversee shareholder relations. Every listed company in India is legally required to have a practising CS. They work in corporate legal departments, CS firms, or as independent practitioners.

Salary Range in India

  • Entry level: 4-8 LPA
  • Mid level: 8-18 LPA
  • Senior/own practice: 18-40+ LPA
