What Does an Economist Actually Do?

A typical week could involve cleaning a survey dataset, running a regression, writing a briefing note and discussing results with policy teams or clients.

Economists work at the Reserve Bank of India, NITI Aayog and government ministries, international bodies such as the World Bank and IMF, think tanks and research institutes, banks and investment firms, consulting companies and universities. Specialisations include macroeconomics, development, public policy, financial economics and econometrics.
