What Does a Stockbroker Do?

Stockbrokers execute buy and sell orders for stocks, bonds, and other securities on behalf of clients. They provide investment advice, analyse market trends, manage client portfolios, and ensure compliance with SEBI regulations. They work at brokerages (Zerodha, ICICI Securities, HDFC), prop trading firms, or as independent advisors. Earnings are often commission-based, making the income highly variable.

Salary Range in India

  • Entry level: 3-8 LPA + commissions
  • Mid level: 8-20 LPA
  • Top performers: 25-50+ LPA
